Phyllis M. Ahlich

Phyllis M. Ahlich, 87 of St.Ignace passed away early Sunday morning, December 9 at Tendercare in Sault Ste. Marie following a brief  illness. She was born December 22,1924 in Lakefield Township,  Luce County to William and Ada (French) Ney.  She graduated from LaSalle High School  in 1942 and married Dell F. Ahlich  at St.Bernard of Clairvaux in Detroit on September 30.1944, and he died January 27,2008. They lived in St.Ignace many years, and also lived in Trout Lake from 1985 to 2006 then  moving back to St.Ignace. They had wintered in Florida for 16 years after retirement. She was a member of St.Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, St. Anns Altar Society, and American Legion Auxiiary, and formerly a member of the Women of the Moose.  .

Phyllis was a dedicated and loving mother. who, to her final days, always put family first before self. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Phyllis and Dell loved St.Ignace and it's people. They loved getting out and about town where their smiling faces were a familier sight, and friendly dispositions a welcome to any gathering.

She is survived by sons, Mark, Kenner,,LA; Frank and Sally, St.Ignace; Jim of St.Ignace; Bill and Rickie of Trout Lake; daughters, Carol Haege, Petoskey; Nancy and Conrad English, Elk Rapids; Barbara Crosby, St.Ignace;sisters, Paula Cronan, St.Ignace and Carol and Floyd Howdyshell, Ithaca; ; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death besides her husband a son, Dell Jr. in 1954 and a grandson Daniel Crosby in 2004.and a granddaughter, Sandra Kay in 1975. Also sisters, Delta Perry and Muriel Painter; and brothers, Guy, Elmer, Donald, Earl, Harold, Gerald, William and Kenneth Ney, and her inlaws, Frank and Lucille Ahlich.

Memorial services for Phyllis will be Saturday, December 15 at 12 noon at Dodson Funeral Home.. with Fr. Pawel Mecwel officiating.  Visitation will be  from 10 am until  12 noon. . Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery  in the Spring. beside her husband Also.Visit with family and friends on Saturday from 4 pm to 7 pm at Timmy Lees on West US #2, Moran Township.
Memorials may be directed to  St.Ignace Hope Chest with envelopes  available from Dodson Funeral Home, 240 McCann Street, St,.Ignace who assisted the family with arrangements.

Everyone should have had your mom in their life! OH what marvelous memories we all have!!! We feel very fortunate to have so many awesome memories of your dear, sweet mom! What a great lady she was. She always had a smile on her face and wonderful things to say. What a great story teller she was and what an outstanding mind and memory! She will be missed. We thank God that she was such a huge part of our lives in such a positive fashion. We know there is a hell of a party in heaven! The gang is back together; not completely, some are still here~ You are all in our thoughts and prayers. + May your wonderful and cherished memories help you during these most difficult days. We love you! From our family to yours (we always felt like family~since our parents were so close!)
