Dell L. Walker, 94 of Evergreen Shores, St.Ignace passed away Saturday, January 5 at Mackinac Straits Hospital. He was born September 4,1918 in Strongs to Ray and Phoebe  ( Jones) Walker.  He graduated from LaSalle High School in St.Ignace in 1937.  He joined the  United States Army in 1944 after he was a Fish and Game Warden, (Now Conservation Officer) and spent most his career in Mio,MI. He maintained a home in the UP all his life. He was a Photogravure Artist during WWll, grade 4  and his job was designating targets from aerial photographs.Dell retired back to Evergreen Shores in 1968.  . He maried Daisy Mae Ludy in St.Ignace on June 13,1939, and she died  March 3,2001.He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Moose Lodge #999;  American Legion in Luzerne,MI;  and a life member of Masonic Lodge in  Rose City,MI.. He and his wife spent many winters in Florida.

Dell is survived by his daughters,Barbara (Steve) Green, Mio,Mi; Bonnie (jack) Owen, Hillman; Lindeen (Ron) Snith, Mio; Virginia ( Dewey) Lopes, Hessel; and Joy ( Jim) Hicks, Hessel; son in law, Robert Gordert, Luzerne,MI; fourteen grandchildren, Roger Welch; Dennis Welch; Mark Owen; Paul Owen;Belinda Smith; Ron Smith;Tammy Gordert; Bobbie Gordert; Christine Grisens; Tina Gordert; Paul Dennis; David Dennis; Jamie Hicks; and Julie Lipnitz. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren and 2 great greatgrandchildren. and sisters, Esther Desjardiines and Marie Smith. and a sister in law, Marvel Walker. He was perceeded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda L. Gordert;a sister, Hazel Campbell Frazier; and a brother, Ray Walker.
Graveside serviced will be held  in June at Lakeside Cemetery where he will be buried next to his wife. Military Rites will be held at the Cemetery. Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
