Richard "Dickie" Oliver

Richard "Dickie"" Oliver, 66 of St.Ignace passed away Saturday evening, April 30 at home folowing a short illness. He was born in Detroit on November 10,1949 to Frederick and Georgia Ruth (Cronkite) )Oliver. He graduated from Redford Union High School, and completed 2 years of college. He was a Cetified State Building Inspector and Regulation Code Official, and a Certfied Assessor. He was the Assesor for Moran Towhship and Sugar Island. He also was a Conceled Weapons Instructor; NRA certified. He was a longtime member of the Scorpion Motorcycle Club of Detroit;SMC. He was also a member of the National Honor Society.   He was happiest when riding his Harley. Dick  worked for many  years as Director of Operations for Harry Ryba on Mackinac Island. He also owned the Old Time Photo shops in Mackinaw City and Mackinac island, and owned the Strip Joint  in St.Ignace.He was a member of St.Ignatius Loyola Catholc Church and The St.Ignace United Methodist Church., and served on the Pastor Parish Committee.

Survivors  include his wife Cindy, whom he married at Mackinac Island Little Stone Church on September 21,1991. Also his children, Nicholas Oliver, Sault Ste. Marie; Melanie Norburn, Grand Haven and Jennifer Marshall, St.Ignace;brothers, Jack (Jo) Oliver, Clinton Twp.; and James (Irene) Oliver , Davenport, Florida; Brother in law; Lynn (Carol) Kelel, LasVagas; Chuck (Susan) Kelel, Redford Twp.; James (Irene) Oliver.Sister in law, Nancy (Pepper Riveria), Kelel, Azusa,CA;  Grandchildren, Dane, Landon, Marah, Drew, Toby, Reid, Giana, Rocco,  and Camryn. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call at the United Methodist Church on Friday, May 6 from 11 to 1:30 when services will be held with Pastor Susie Hierholzer and Fr. Frank Ricca officiating.Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery next to his parents. Memorials may be directed to Mackinac  Animal Aid Association; United Methodist Church Youth or Mackinac Straits Hospital Onciology Department with envelopes available from Dodson Funeral Home, 240 McCann  Street, ST.Ignace, Michigan 49781, who assisted the family with arrangements.

The Scorpion Motorcycle Club will escort him to Lakeside Cemetery., on Harleys.
