Howard F. Everson 86 of St.Ignace passed away Thursday afternoon, August 24 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. He was born November 16,1930 to Capt Peter and Mary Louise (St.Louis) Everson. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1949. He was very active in sports and has faithfully supported his children and grandchildren in their sports endeavors. He was well known as a  businesssman in St.Ignace, owning with his wife, the Stop Party Store for 28 years on State Street, and the Sunset Motel on W. US2. He also worked for the Michigan State Ferry system, and sailed  the Great Lakes and also worked fror the Michigan Highway Department. Howie loved to hunt and fish, and was a great gardener. He was a partner in the King Pine Hunt Camp since 1965 .. He was a charter member of Moose Lodge #999; a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, and a faithful member of St.Ignatius Catholic Church.He was also an Elder of the Sault Tribe Chippewa Indians.
On January 20,1951 he married Charlotte Lahaie at St.Ignatius Church and she survives. Also his children, Peter and Kathy Everson, Brevort Lake; Nina and Charles Litzner, Sault Ste Marie; James and Kyle Everson, St.Ignace;  Linda and Mike Wheelock, Traverse City; Diana and Mark Labadie, Kingsley; Jean and Keith Massaway, St.Ignace; Robert  Everson and Christopher Broomfield, Ft Lauderdale,Florida; and a daughter in law, Young-Ah Everson, in California; a sister, Lois Ann Marshall, Marquette; 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. and many nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by sons, Gary in 2007 and an infant son William John in 1967; brother David in 1976; and sisters Ruth,and sister Christine.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 26 at 12 noon at St.Ignatius Church with Fr. Frank Ricca, Fr, Norbert Landreville, and Deacon Tom McClelland officiating. Visitation will be from 10 am to service time. Burial will be in Gros Cap Cemetery later date.. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the LaSalle Alumni Fund of the St.Ignace Community Foundation with envelopes available from Dodson Funeral Home who assisted the family with arrangements

Pallbearers will be grandsons..

Our sincere condolences to Pete & Kathy; Jimmy & Kyle; Jean & Keith, Nathan, Evan, all the children and their spouses, grandchildren and other family members. Always enjoyed football games most when we were lucky enough to run into the Eversons "senior" ... Charlotte, we are so very sorry for your loss. You both made school and game day events so memorable! Thank you for your generosity and love and leading such a great team of your own. Howard Everson will be very fondly remembered and deeply missed by all of us ... he always made us smile!

Charlotte & family: I so sorry for your loss. Howard was a class act, always enjoyed seeing him when he visited the Theut camp. Your so blessed to have such great memories. RIP Howard.
