Harry John Burroughs, 88 of Carp Lake  passed away Wednesday, August 30 at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living in St.Ignace. He was born  November 13,1928 to Clifford and Mable (Anderson) Burroughs in Mackinaw City.. He worked on  Great Lakes freighters before joining the Army during the Korean War in 1951, and was discharged in 1953. He then worked on the Mackinac Bridge. He married Ozeline Carriere in January ,1955. He worked in road construction across the State, and was a Millright and a carpenter, and retired from the Carpenters Union,Local 1419. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He loved animals, especially dogs and cats that came into his life over the years. He was an Elder with the Sault Tribe CHippewa Indians. and a65 year member of Masonic Lodge #440 in Pellston, and a member of the American Legion in Mackinaw City.

He is survived by daughters, Marcie Burroughs, Carp Lake and  Debra Burroughs, Petoskey; and 2 grandchildren, Peter Mackie andMichaela Mackie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years who passed away in 2013 and a step  son , Michael Hingston, and his siblings Iva Mae, James, Madeline., and Clifford.

Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be buried in Lakeview Cemetery with Military Honors at 2pm on Friday, September 15..
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed tto the Cheboygan County Humane Society.
