Muriel Jean Woods, 94 of ST.Ignace passed away Sunday, March 18 at Evergreen Living Center . She was born in Flint on August 17,1923 to  James and Jennie(Hamilton) Crawford.  She graduated from Pickford High School, and lived on a farm near Stalwart her early years after moving from Flint with her parents.. She married Ronald William Woods on September 10,1946 in the Stalwart Methodist Church. The lived in Detour Village until 2001 when they moved to St.Ignace to be closer to family. While in St.Ignace she attended the St.Ignace United Methodist Church.While living in Detour she was a longtime secretary at the Detour Elementary School. She was a member of the Detour Union Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School and was treasurer, and a member of the Church Womens Society. she was also a member of the LesCheneaux Eastern Star, and a member of the Detour American Legion Auxilary, and served on the Detour Village Council, the first women to do so. She greatly enjoyed family gatherings, sports and Bingo. She had a verry sweet personality and never complained even though in assisted living and long term care.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Bonnie Ledy , and Steve and Joan Therrian, all of ST.Ignace. 6 grandchildren, Darcy McLean, St.Ignace; Jennie and Will Dodge, Harbor Springs; Brad and Amanda Ledy, Saline; Amy and Charles Huntsman, Arvada, Colorado; Andy and Kera Therrian, Omaha, Neb.; Ashleigh and Austin Kimberling, St.Ignace.;13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald on  Feb. 10,1990; her brothers James M. Crawford and Wayne D. Crawford.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at 11 am at the St.Ignace United Methodist Church with Rev. Susie Hierholzer officiating. Visitation will  be at the church from 10 am to service time. Memorials may be directed to the Evergreen Living Center with envelopes available from Dodson Funeral Home St,Ignace,  who assisted with the arrangements.
Burial of her ashes will be in Detour Cemetery in the Spring..

Hi Joni. I am sending you a long distance hug and sincere sympathy on the loss of your Mom. Such a sweetie! She was a beautiful lady and unfailingly kind and patient as I’d run in and out of your house - growing up. ;-).
