Donald J. "Duck" Andress, 83 of Mackinac Island passed away early Sunday morning, April 22 at his home on the Island. He was born on Mackinac Island January 21,1935 to Joseph and Ruby (Perault) Andress. He wenr to school on the island, and  joined the U.S.Arny on February 4,1958 until July 20,1960. He operated Donald Andress Construction many years on the island. He was very active in the Lilac Day festivities for many years, and always was in the parade dressed in Native American gear. He rode his horse in the parade. He made Native Art walking sticks, many of which are in museums. Duck was an institution on Mackinac. He was a life member of Sault Tribe Chippewa Indians.
He is survived by a son, Donald Jr. "Jamie" (Stephany Morgan) also of the Island. one brother, Carl and Cora Andress, Hessel; a siser, Mary Christine Andress of St.Ignace; and several nieces and nephews. He was perceded in death by his parents, and siblngs, Barbara Chambers, Joseph Jr. and Leslie "Butch" Andress.
There will be a graveside service at Lilac Day time on Mackinac Island at STe Annes Cemetery. Cremation has taken place Services will be conducted by the Mackinac Island American Legion. Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
