Guy William Goudreau
Guy William Goudreau, 55, of Drummond Island, who was a mason and carpenter by trade, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace, following an illness with cancer. He was born August 17, 1962, to Steve and Ruth Goudreau in St. Ignace.

Mr. Goudreau grew up in Bay City and Trout Lake. After he was graduated from Rudyard High School, he moved to Alaska seeking out the last frontier, where he enjoyed adventures. He moved to Drummond Island in 1988, and found his home. He loved his time at hunting camp, mushroom-hunting camp (where he especially enjoyed shooting off his potato gun), snowmobiling, tinkering with his projects, and spending time with his good friends.

Mr. Goudreau loved the outdoors, and he was happiest when he was in the woods, on a canoe at Silver Lake, over a hole on the ice looking for a pike, snaring a rabbit, shooting a ptarmigan (that sometimes turned out to be a chunk of ice), or fishing on the riverbank and having to share his catch with a grizzly bear. He was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
He is survived by a son, Adam Michel Goudreau of Dallas, Oregon; two brothers and their families, Steve and Sara Goudreau of Valdez, Alaska, and Damien “Gus” and Meg Goudreau of Colbert, Washington, and five sisters and their families, Mary Ruth and Randy Pyle of Valdez, Anne and Stan Faustin of Sterling, Jolene and Marshall Kemppainen of Drummond Island, Toni Goudreau of Trout Lake, and Yvonne Goudreau of Petoskey, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Goudreau was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Mary Ann Anderson, who died January 31, 2018, and a brother, Raymond Goudreau.
Services will be held Thursday, June 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in St. Ignace with Father Frank Ricca officiating. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 16, at the Drummond Island Township Cemetery. Dodson Funeral Home of St. Ignace is assisting the family with arrangements.
