Marvin Stanley May
Marvin Stanley May of Mackinac Island died Sunday, July 8, 2018, in Traverse City. He was 91. He was born September 8, 1926, to Harold and Ethel May in Rockford, Illinois.
Mr. May served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he served in mine warfare in the Korean War. He was a lifelong candy maker and owned May’s Candy.
He is survived by his wife, Crescencia May; his children, Vernon May, Tara Lee, Tienne Mathews, Marvinlee May, Carolyn May, and Heather May; his grandchildren, Vernessa May, Levi May, Fawn Houg, Erin Kee, Richard Bush, Marlee Mathews, Edwin Mathews, Corrina Mathews, and Leo May, and his great-grandchildren, Kooper Beverly, Antonio Marchio, Lily Delis, Zayla Mathews, and Luna Mathews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. May was preceded in death by a daughter, Tawna May, and many lifelong friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at Ste. Anne’s Church on Mackinac Island. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to time of the service. A celebration of his life will follow at 5 p.m. at Community Hall.
