Linda Lou Wi lkins, 72 of ST.Ignace passed away peacefully Saturday morning, October 13 surrounded by her family at her home She was born November 4,1945 in Kalamazoo to Neil "Stan" and Esther (Novenske) Sorenson. She graduated from LaSalle High School in 1963 and attended Beautician School in the Soo for 2 years. She married Michael Wilkins on September 21,1968 at Zion Luthran Church in ST.Ignace. She continued her craft for many years, and worked until health issues took over her life.She was very active at Zion Lutheran Church and in the community. She was President of the Lutheran Womens organization, called LCW. She was the cookie chair taking over from her mother.She also was the funeral luncheon planner, and Church Council President. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, and Women of the Moose and hororary member of the ST.Ignace Lions Club. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and adopted grandchildren. She baked with them, teaching them her tricks, and also continued the cannng tradition of the Sorenson family. Linda would be the first to bake or bring a hot dish when a family was in trouble, or had a death in the family. She will be truely mised by her family and the community.
She is survived by her family, Husband Mike, daughters, Sandra and Fred Feleppa, Barbara Wilkins, and Lori Wilkins, all of St.Ignace; 2 brothers, Gary and Monica Sorenson, ST.Ignace; STeven and Carol Sorenson, Holland; sisters, Judy Ryerse and Susan Fenlon, ST.Ignace, 6 grandchildren, Derrick Clark, Trae LaChapelle, Emma Feleppa, Josh Feleppa, A.J. Feleppa, and Andrew Feleppa.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in law, Jerry Fenlon.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 17 at 2 pm at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev, Dave Tielbar officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11 am until service time. Cremation will follow and her ashes will be buried in Lakeside Cemetery later.
Dodson Funeral Home, St.Ignace assisted the family with arrangements.

We are so sorry that we could not make it to the funeral today. Linda was the most organized person I ever met. She was helpful, willing and caring. The community, her church and the Native American Seniors will all miss her.

Linda will be missed by so many, I have great memories growing up around her family. She gave me my first job as a hair dresser. May she Rest In Peace and prayers for her family .
