Mario J. Calcaterra Jr.
Died: Monday, October 17, 2011
Mario J. Calcaterra Jr. 80 of St.Ignace passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17 at his home folllowing a 7 month illness. He was born in Detroit on October 28,1930 to Mario J. and Catherine "Babe" Calcaterra Sr. He graduated from  Assumption Catholic School in Windsor, Canada in 1949. He worked for Straits Construction as a Foreman several years, and retired as an Operating Engineer in 2004, working 35 years in road construction.  He worked for Bacco Road Construction  for 25years. He is a  life member of Local 324, Operating Engineers. He is a member of St.Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church and the St.Ignace VFW. He served in the Korean War serving 2 years. He was a family man, loved his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Delores, whom he married Sept. 19,1981, his sons, Mario J . lll, St.Ignace; Jon and Debbie of Lansing; Joe Cody of Kellogg, Idaho; daughter, Mary and Doug Lakin, Traverse City; a sister, Rosemarie Bentgen, St.. Ignace; grandchildren; Marielle, Gina, Mario lV, and Jenny.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Babe in 1981 and Mario in 2006, and his first wife , Beverly in 1979.

Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, October 22 at 11 am at St.Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church with Fr. Pawel Mecwel; andFr. Norbert Landreville  officiating.

  Visitation will be on Friday, October 21 from 4 to 8 pm at Dodson Funeral Home with parish prayers at 8 pm. Burial will be in St.Ignatius Cemetery with the St' Ignace American Legion post doing the military honors.Pallbearers will be  Steve Smith, John Greenleaf, Glen Cody, Dave Nakles, Donald Lamb and Cathy Sposito.

Memorials may be directed to either the EUP Hospice or the Oncology Department, Mackinac Straits Hospital with envelopes available from Dodson Funeral Home who assisted with arrangements.

To all of you there... my heart is with you. I only knew Mario for a short time. I found him to be a wonderful human being. I loved him very much and will miss him dearly. Peace to you all. Mary P.S. Sasha and Hairy will miss their "grampa" too.
